Have a story to share? Raconteurs is accepting pitches for upcoming events!
SOME PITCH GUIDELINES:
1. WHAT MAKES A GREAT RACONTEURS STORY? LISTEN AND FIND OUT!
The best way to get a feel for our events is to attend one! Barring that, our YouTube Channel and Podcast are great ways to get a sense of the stories that work on our stage.
2. TELL US THE WHOLE STORY
Cliffhangers and beginnings can be compelling, but we need to know the whole story to make a decision. Tell us the beginning, tell us the ending, and tell us how you got there. If it’s not obvious, tell us how this story relates to our theme and make it clear it happened to YOU.
3. KNOW WHAT YOUR STORY IS ABOUT
Not every story needs a moral, as real life doesn’t! But we want to know you’ve thought about the deeper themes in your story. What makes your story universal? What makes it important? What makes it relate to our theme?
4. OUR EVENTS ARE CURATED
We choose stories based on the strength of the pitches, but also on how they fit the theme, and how they fit together. That means you can have an amazing pitch but still not be selected. Please keep pitching — we may have room for you (and your story! or a different story!) at one of our upcoming events!
5. WHAT WE DON’T WANT:
Raconteurs stories can take many forms, but there are things that will get your pitch instantly disqualified. We are specifically NOT looking for: stand up routines, rants, essays, soliloquies.
Raconteurs is an actively inclusive space — any form of racism, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, etc. will get you immediately and permanently booted from our stage. Graphic sexual content or political views are also discouraged.
6. IN SUMMARY…
A Raconteurs pitch should be 2-4 paragraphs in length, with a full but brief summary of the story you want to tell. Cliffhangers annoy us — (i.e. “and so begins the story of the greatest adventure of my life”) — if you include one, there’s a good chance we will not accept your pitch.
Let us know who you are and the tone of your story.
Have a story that doesn’t fit our upcoming themes? Pitch us anyway — or pitch us a theme!
