TRUE. SHORT. PERSONAL. TORONTO’S BEST STORIES TOLD LIVE ON STAGE.
Raconteurs is a monthly event series featuring true, personal storytelling live on stage without notes or props. Each event features a theme — a jumping off point to give the evening’s stories a common thread. Stories shared are funny, poignant, exciting, and moving — Everyone can be a storyteller — because everyone has a story!
We have three simple rules: stories must be TRUE, must be PERSONAL (have happened to the storyteller) and must be SHORT (7-12 minutes).
In addition to our monthly events, Raconteurs has had successful partnerships and co-sponsored events with the Canadian Opera Company, the Canadian Media Guild, WORN Magazine, and CBC Radio’s Live Through This.
Founded in 2010 by Laura-Louise Tobin and Alicia Merchant, Raconteurs operated under the name MothUP Toronto (in partnership with The Moth). Reborn as Raconteurs Storytelling in 2012, Raconteurs has continued the tradition of showcasing Toronto’s best stories on our stage! With that combined 5 years, Raconteurs is Toronto’s oldest — not to mention largest — storytelling events series and has been credited with introducing true, personal storytelling to Toronto and inspiring a whole community.
Raconteurs’ regular monthly events take place on Wednesdays at the Tranzac Club in downtown Toronto. The Tranzac club is accessible and barrier-free.
